This week, the Theatre Production Class, led by Mrs. Mary Bowden and Mr. Travis Hensel, took their learning far beyond the classroom. Instead of just studying theatre, these students rolled up their sleeves and became a part of it! They learned how to install and upgrade the stage flooring in the CPlant Auditorium, leaving behind a refreshed stage that will be the foundation for countless future performances. Through this hands-on project, students gained real-world experience in stagecraft and production while making a lasting impact on MCHS’s performance space. #McCrackenProud

🌟 Leadership in Action 🌟

Our Leadership & Service Learning classes are making a real impact at MCHS and beyond! 💪✨
This course gives students the opportunity to:

✔️ Engage in meaningful service projects
✔️ Develop leadership skills through teamwork, text studies, and personal growth
✔️ Complete 45 volunteer service hours throughout the year (with at least 10 hours outside of school!)

Each class takes on unique projects—like Mrs. Thaggard’s Leadership students, who planned and organized last Friday’s pep rally 🎉🐎, and Mrs. Lewis’s class, who completed a Break Out game in the library to build teamwork and problem-solving skills 🔐📚.

Learning is fun at McCracken! Mrs. O’Bryan’s Sophomore English classes stepped right into Roald Dahl’s The Landlady! To bring the story to life, Mrs. Lakshmi O'Bryan donned her best gray wig while serving tea and biscuits—just like the mysterious landlady herself. Students loved the immersive twist while diving into this classic short story.

Last week in Mrs. Woodruff’s Culinary classes, students put their skills to the test in creative (and tasty) ways! 🍴✨

👩‍🍳 Culinary 1 students reviewed kitchen math, tools, and techniques to earn supplies for building team catapults—then used problem-solving and communication to compete in a marshmallow-launching contest (bonus points for landing them in teammates’ mouths! 😂).

👨‍🍳 Culinary 2 students explored the 5 Tastes and flavor profiles through a blind taste test, classifying foods as sour, sweet, bitter, salty, umami, or a combination.

Just a small taste of the exciting things to come in Culinary this year! #McCrackenProud

The Fleet Reserve Association hosts an annual essay contest for an opportunity to win a $1,500 grand prize. This is for all students, grades 7-12. We look forward for the opportunity to have students participate in the upcoming essay contest! #McCrackenProud
