A Big Thank You to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department! Today, the McCracken County Sheriff's Department helped our school by flying a drone over the MCHS parking lot during dismissal. This initiative will allow our admin team and SROs to evaluate traffic flow and work towards improving the efficiency and safety of our dismissal process. We are grateful for the support and partnership in ensuring our students get home safely each day! #McCrackenProud

Banned Books Week is an annual event that highlights the value of free and open access to information. Stop by the Manchikanti Library and see the Banned Books display and celebrate the freedom to read! Remember: MCHS STUDENTS can answer a quick banned books question and every correct answer enters them into a drawing for daily prizes!

Last week, our Freshman Fundamentals class had a powerful presentation from the FBI on the possible dangers of online communication. Students learned about handling social media threats and how the FBI and local law enforcement respond to online concerns. This eye-opening session provided invaluable insights into staying safe in the digital world. Thank you to the FBI for this relevant and timely presentation on online safety! #opportUNITY

This week, McCracken students had the #opportUNITY to attend the Murray State Regional College Fair. Approximately 750 students from 15 regional high schools attended the event and had the opportunity to meet with representatives from multiple colleges and universities.

Last night our Mustang Youth Services Center in partnership with Community Schools hosted our first ever Freshman Academy Parent Café, and it was a huge success! Families came together for a delicious dinner and meaningful discussions. Parent Café is a National Model designed to create a safe space for caregivers to share their experiences and learn from one another, with the goal of strengthening families. #opportUNITY

McCracken County High School students joined more than 200 local students exploring careers in the maritime industry at the We Work Waterways job fair! Held at West Kentucky Community & Technical College, the event gave juniors and seniors hands-on experiences and insights into the river industry. Mrs. Gwinn's Principles of Biomedical Science class are playing a blood typing game. Students are determining which blood types can successfully given to a patient with certain antibodies. In this fun blood type game, students stepped into the role of a healthcare professional tasked with determining what blood a patient can safely receive based on the antibodies found in their blood! This is a great way to put into practice their knowledge of blood types and how antibodies work in transfusions. #opportUNITY #McCrackenProud This Thursday, the BioMed students are hosting a Blood Drive at MCHS!
