Growth in action at MCHS! Mrs. Harner’s HERD class recently transplanted spider plants they’ve been propagating over the past two weeks—bringing hands-on learning to life. HERD Time is more than an advisory period; it’s a time for students to build leadership skills, explore college and career pathways, and connect through meaningful, real-world experiences.

Gavin is a great example of taking initiative and following your passion. To fully commit to the welding program at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, he made the decision to become an online student—spending his days gaining hands-on experience and working toward his certification while giving up many parts of the traditional high school experience. His journey is a powerful reminder that success doesn’t always follow the traditional path—and while that path may require sacrifice, it can lead to an even greater outcome. #McCrackenProud
McCracken County High School is committed to equipping students with real-world skills and preparing them for high-demand careers in the skilled trades. As part of this commitment, we are actively developing our own programs—such as welding—set to launch in the 2026–2027 school year.
