McCracken County Schools will be in session, on February 19, 2024, and March 15, 2024, to make up two snow days. Our school district missed a total of four days in January due to inclement weather. The 2023-2024 school calendar will be reduced two calendar days so students will not make up the other two snow days. Non-traditional instruction (NTI) days will be used for any additional full school days missed going forward.

On Friday, January 26th, the McCracken County High School Quick Recall team participated in the West Kentucky Academic Bowl. The 4 teams present - McCracken, Calloway, Paducah Tilghman, and Fulton County - represent each section of our West Kentucky Academic Association league. A random draw pitted McCracken County against Calloway County in the first round of the single elimination event. McCracken came out on top with a score of 38 - 18.
After Paducah beat Fulton County, they faced off against McCracken to determine who received the $5,500 scholarship prize money. After 60 questions, McCracken prevailed with a score of 40 - 4. McCracken’s Quick Recall team members include: Ethan Brown, Cole Cannon, Owen Cody (Captain), Garret Greenwell, and Eden Bridge-Hayes.
Scholarship money awards are as follows:
1. McCracken County High School $5,500
2. Paducah Tilghman High School $2,500
3. Calloway County High School $1,000
4. Fulton County High School $1,000

Claire was also presented with a ball to recognize her 500th career assist on December 1st against Henderson.

Next month, February 21st, MCHS FFA will be welcoming Amberley Snyder to McCracken County High School! She will speak during the school day for Ag students and 5:00 pm for the public.
Amberley Snyder is a rodeo star who has faced many obstacles. She is a nationally ranked barrel racer who experienced a horrific vehicle accident and has had to climb her way back to the top. Snyder's life is portrayed in the Netflix movie, “Walk. Ride. Rodeo.”

ACT Prep Sessions
Any McCracken County High School student can attend the ACT Prep Sessions. All sessions will begin at 2:15 and last around 1 hour.
Homecoming Dance Tickets will go on sale today during lunch!
Students will be able to purchase tickets Monday - Thursday.
Tickets are $5.
The Homecoming Dance is on January 27th from 8:30 pm-11 pm. If your student is bringing an outside guest, he or she can pick up those forms in the front office. Outside guests must be approved by their school principal or designee on these forms to attend. This is the same process we've always used, so hopefully your student is familiar with the steps needed to bring someone who does not attend McCracken.
