Last week in Mrs. Woodruff’s Culinary classes, students put their skills to the test in creative (and tasty) ways! 🍴✨
👩🍳 Culinary 1 students reviewed kitchen math, tools, and techniques to earn supplies for building team catapults—then used problem-solving and communication to compete in a marshmallow-launching contest (bonus points for landing them in teammates’ mouths! 😂).
👨🍳 Culinary 2 students explored the 5 Tastes and flavor profiles through a blind taste test, classifying foods as sour, sweet, bitter, salty, umami, or a combination.

Dr. Beales and the Fleet Reserve Association presented William Wilson with a trophy and a $40 gift card for coming in 2nd place in their essay contest. William was an 8th grader at Reidland Middle School last year and is now a member of Freshman Academy at MCHS. The Fleet Reserve Association hosts an annual essay contest for an opportunity to win a $1,500 grand prize. This is for all students, grades 7-12. We look forward for the opportunity to have students participate in the upcoming essay contest! #McCrackenProud

🧪🔬 Teamwork in Science! 🔬🧪
Mrs. Brooks’ science classes kicked off the year with a fun and challenging team-building activity to get ready for partnered labs and experiments. Students tackled task cards both with and without talking—learning firsthand how tricky communication (or the lack of it) can be.
They wrapped up by discussing what worked, what didn’t, noticing who stepped up as leaders, who shined at following directions, and creating their own group norms to guide their work together this year. A great start to building strong lab partnerships! #McCrackenProud
