Huge shout out to the Bio Med Classes for hosting last week’s Blood Drive! After weeks of planning, organizing, and signing up eligible students, they teamed up with the Red Cross to make a big impact. Our Mustangs collected 102 units of blood — enough to save 306 lives! We are #McCrackenProud of our students for stepping up to save lives and showing what teamwork and service look like!
MCHS students took part in We Work the Waterways Day last week! This annual event gives high school juniors and seniors the chance to explore careers in the maritime industry through hands-on activities and interactive presentations.
Students experienced everything from line throwing and trying on PPE to learning about the biology of our regional rivers. Hosted across several locations—including WKCTC, The Marine Way Training Center, and Ingram Barge Company’s Paducah facility—the day highlighted just how vital the river industry is to our community and beyond.
We’re #McCrackenProud of our Mustangs for diving into these opportunities and considering the many career pathways our waterways provide!

Korey Vazquez, owner of Gold Rush Cafe in downtown Paducah, delivered a presentation to Advanced Foods and Nutrition students about the operational aspects of a local restaurant. He demonstrated their ice cream French toast and last week's special dish, Willow's Pizza Pancakes. Students asked questions about running a restaurant and were challenged to compete to create a dish for the weekly special. Vazquez will return to judge the dishes and declare a potential winner. #McCrackenProud
We were honored to welcome Dr. Ron K. Patterson, President of Murray State University, to McCracken County High School yesterday. 🐎💙 The Mustangs loved connecting with the Racers and sharing the incredible things happening at MCHS. MCHS Senior Brody Miller, KY’s 2025 Youth Leadership Council delegate, spoke at the @KentuckyElectric Annual Meeting. Representing @JacksonPurchaseEnergy, he shared how Youth Tour fueled his passion for leadership & how AI + energy will shape our future. #McCrackenProud
Last Friday, MCHS students, alongside the Mustangs Youth Service Center, joined Project United to serve at The Papillion Center. Together with 600 volunteers across five counties, we made an impact on 62 projects supporting 30 nonprofits.

This week, the Theatre Production Class, led by Mrs. Mary Bowden and Mr. Travis Hensel, took their learning far beyond the classroom. Instead of just studying theatre, these students rolled up their sleeves and became a part of it! They learned how to install and upgrade the stage flooring in the CPlant Auditorium, leaving behind a refreshed stage that will be the foundation for countless future performances. Through this hands-on project, students gained real-world experience in stagecraft and production while making a lasting impact on MCHS’s performance space. #McCrackenProud

This course gives students the opportunity to:
✔️ Engage in meaningful service projects
✔️ Develop leadership skills through teamwork, text studies, and personal growth
✔️ Complete 45 volunteer service hours throughout the year (with at least 10 hours outside of school!)
Each class takes on unique projects—like Mrs. Thaggard’s Leadership students, who planned and organized last Friday’s pep rally 🎉🐎, and Mrs. Lewis’s class, who completed a Break Out game in the library to build teamwork and problem-solving skills 🔐📚.
