What do you want students in your school to know about your culture?
I think the representation of the Mexican population is important. Since it is one of the largest within the Hispanic community in the United States. The Mexican influence is reflected in multiple aspects of American life, from food to cultural and linguistic traditions. We can highlight the high impact that the Mexicans who work here have in both countries. Mexico represents a fundamental part of the diversity within the Hispanic heritage. Celebrating Mexican culture helps highlight the richness and breadth of different Hispanic cultures, promoting greater inclusion and appreciation for cultural diversity.
Mexico has had a significant impact on the politics and economy of Latin America and the world, being a key actor in the international arena. Mexico is known for its vibrant traditions and festivities, such as the Day of the Dead, the Feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe, and the Grito de Dolores celebrations. These festivities offer a rich opportunity to educate others about Mexican customs and traditions. A very important one is the celebration of the Day of the Dead, one of the most recognized internationally. Not fearing death is typical of Mexican culture.
When we talk about our culture, phew! We don't stop! Since culture and art in our country have gone around the world and we are a reference for great movements in history. But without a doubt, what distinguishes us most is its people, good-hearted people, excellent hosts and a country that, although at times it seems divided, is actually one of the most united.- MCHS Freshman, Megan Martinez

What do you want students in your school to know about your culture?
This month celebrates the diverse contributions and cultures within the Hispanic community. By highlighting Venezuela, it ensures that the diversity within the Hispanic community is recognized and appreciated. Representing Venezuela provides the opportunity to share and promote its rich cultural heritage, including its music, dance, food, festivities and traditions. Although in recent years, Venezuela has faced a severe economic and political crisis, resulting in a massive departure of Venezuelans seeking better living conditions in other countries. This situation has drawn global attention and generated international support. As Venezuelans, we seek to recognize our country with a lot of culture, atmosphere, happy people and full of traditions, history, sports and with great gastronomy that is not found in other countries. Venezuela is a beautiful country that has been overshadowed by political issues. But it is up to our Venezuelan citizens to make known the beauty of our country and not foreign policy or violence. - MCHS Senior, Franchesca Colina Noriega

What do you want students in your school to know about your culture?
To represent El Salvador and show that it is a country that has more to offer the world than gangs and that has much more to prove; such as the combination of its natural beauty, its rich historical heritage and the surprising and desired increase in the country's security. Today, El Salvador is a totally safe country thanks to our president.
The representation of El Salvador this month allows Salvadoran traditions, customs, history and language to be shared with a broader audience. This not only educates others about Salvadoran culture, but also helps new generations of Salvadorans in the United States connect with their roots and feel proud of their heritage. This shows that people from El Salvador are really nice people and the community is the best.- MCHS Senior, Sonia Ramirez Guzman
