What do you want students in your school to know about your culture?
To represent El Salvador and show that it is a country that has more to offer the world than gangs and that has much more to prove; such as the combination of its natural beauty, its rich historical heritage and the surprising and desired increase in the country's security. Today, El Salvador is a totally safe country thanks to our president.
The representation of El Salvador this month allows Salvadoran traditions, customs, history and language to be shared with a broader audience. This not only educates others about Salvadoran culture, but also helps new generations of Salvadorans in the United States connect with their roots and feel proud of their heritage. This shows that people from El Salvador are really nice people and the community is the best.- MCHS Senior, Sonia Ramirez Guzman

Mexican culture is incredibly rich, diverse, and deeply rooted in history, and there are a few key aspects that I would want people around the world to know: It is shaped by a blend of ancient civilizations like Aztecs, Mayans, Olmecs, along with Spanish influence. This blend has created a unique heritage that's reflected in its language, art, traditions, beliefs and cuisines. The Mexican culture is so much more than the negative stereotypes often portrayed by media. While issues like violence and cartels are real and should not be ignored, they do not define the richness and complexity of Mexico’s culture or its people. Mexico has a profound celebration of life, creativity, and history, and it stands for so much more than the challenging issues that sometimes dominate headlines. Its contributions to art, science, philosophy, and humanity as a whole are vast and enduring.- Romina Maldonado
