☕👮‍♂️ Coffee with a Cop 👮‍♀️☕ On November 12, students from Mr. Wentworth's Criminal Justice classes had the unique opportunity to attend the third annual Coffee with a Cop event at McCracken County High School. They gathered for coffee and pastries, generously provided by students from Mrs. Woodruff's culinary classes, and engaged in meaningful conversations with officers from the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, Paducah Police Department, Kentucky State Police, FBI, and McCracken County Campus Police. The event allowed students to meet and interact with a wide range of law enforcement professionals, including detectives, patrol officers, school resource officers, and administrators. True to the mission of the Coffee with a Cop national initiative, this event helped break down barriers between law enforcement and the community, fostering open dialogue and understanding. A big thank you to all the officers and students who made this event a success! ☕👮‍♂️

MCHS National Art Honor Society Community Project By MCHS Junior- Delaney Green McCracken County's chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is starting the school year off strong with a new community-based project. They are collaborating with the Public Library to bring beautiful artwork to their public spaces. On Oct 26, 2024, from 9am to 5pm, students will be hard at work creating student designed and executed koi pond mural located under the stairs in the lobby. The mural itself was designed by McCracken Student Amel Lundberg. Amel is the exhibitions Chair for the school’s National Art Honor Society. They have been eagerly in charge of organizing and leading this event. “Koi fish mean a lot to me as a symbol of strength, courage, and peace, and this library has always been a staple of my childhood. It’s also an amazing opportunity for me, NAHS, and McCracken. I’m so grateful to have taken charge of it,” Lundburg states. This will be a shining opportunity for student leadership and hands-on collaboration with local public establishments. Community members are encouraged to come see the work in progress and post photos. Other NAHS student members will also be in attendance to do complimentary face painting for any children in attendance.. NAHS member Isabella Weaver, applied and was accepted to the NAHS mural team. She states “By bringing art into our community, we can build relationships with the people around us. We get to spread a positive influence that can really make a difference”. Members like Weaver are excited to engage in such a project to cultivate community and be part of something the people of their city can enjoy.
