National Speech and Language Pathologist Appreciation Day is here to shine a much-deserved spotlight on the people who play such an important role in the lives of so many. And it’s a day to raise public awareness about SLPs and communication health!

The month of May is also National Speech-Language-Hearing Month! During this time, the focus is on increasing awareness about communication and swallowing disorders, as well as highlighting the crucial services provided by speech language pathologists, audiologist, and other professions in related fields. These dedicated individuals play a vital role in helping people overcome communication challenges and improve their quality of life.

Whether it’s assisting someone with speech difficulties, addressing hearing loss, or supporting individuals with swallowing disorders, NSLHM serves as an opportunity to recognize the impact of these professionals and promote understanding of the importance of effective communication and healthy hearing.

Your dinner plans this week can support McCracken County High School students!

This year, Chimney’s Food Trailer partnered with the MCHS Culinary 2 class to give students a real-world food truck experience. Students created original food concepts, developed menus, and presented them to the owners of Chimney’s, who selected one winning team to be featured on the truck this week.

Congratulations to Jake Hazel, Jack Conway, Lincoln Pope, and Brady Hayden for winning with their “Slider Stop” concept! Their full menu will be served from Chimney’s Food Trailer at the Finish Line Carwash on Hinkleville Road Tuesday–Friday from 4:00–8:00 PM.

We’d love for the community to stop by, support these talented students, and taste what they created. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated back to the MCHS culinary program to support future student opportunities.
