What if high school helped students discover not only what they want to learn—but where that learning could take them?
The Academies of McCracken County provide McCracken County High School students with a more personalized high school experience that connects classroom learning to future goals. Through career exploration, hands-on learning and partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, students can discover their interests and strengths while developing skills for college, a career and life after graduation.
An academy is a smaller learning community within MCHS designed to help students feel connected, supported and prepared for the future. Academies bring together students with shared interests and career goals, allowing them to build strong relationships while exploring broad career fields.
Within each academy, students select a pathway—a focused course of study based on a specific career interest. Pathways give students opportunities to explore potential careers through career-aligned coursework, hands-on projects and real-world experiences.
The MCHS Academy model begins with the Freshman Academy, where ninth-grade students receive additional support as they transition to high school. During freshman year, students explore career options, identify their interests and strengths, and prepare to select an Academy and pathway for their remaining years at MCHS.
The three career-focused Academies are:
Academy of Agriculture, Engineering and Skilled Trades
Academy of Health, Education and Public Safety
Academy of Technology, Business and Hospitality
The Academies of McCracken County are designed to make learning more meaningful by helping students understand how their classroom experiences connect to future opportunities.
Every student. A personalized path. A future full of possibilities.
