McCracken County High School has announced Kenny Perry as the final inductee in the inaugural McCracken County High School Hall of Fame class.
Perry, a Lone Oak High School graduate, began his golf career with the Purple Flash before continuing at Western Kentucky University. He turned professional in 1982 and went on to establish one of the most successful careers in Kentucky golf history.
Perry earned 27 professional victories during his career, including 14 PGA Tour wins and 10 PGA Tour Champions victories. He reached No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking and represented the United States in multiple Ryder Cups, including the victorious 2008 team at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.
Among Perry’s numerous honors are the Payne Stewart Award, PGA Tour Champions Rookie of the Year, the Charles Schwab Cup and Champions Tour Player of the Year.From his days at Lone Oak to the highest levels of professional golf, Perry has represented McCracken County and Kentucky with distinction, skill and sportsmanship.
Perry and the other members of the inaugural Hall of Fame class will be honored Sept. 18.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the C-Plant Auditorium at McCracken County High School. A pregame recognition will follow at 6:45 p.m. before McCracken County hosts Union County at Marquette Stadium.
