The First Region tennis championships continued its course Tuesday afternoon from the Larry J. Heflin Tennis Courts in Lone Oak. Brackets were narrowed down to the semifinals in the boys and girls singles events, as well as the doubles brackets. Championship rounds for all events are set for Thursday afternoon.
In girls doubles action, McCracken County’s Parker/Poore defeated Paducah Tilghman’s McMillan/L. Anderson, 6-0, 6-0 to keep their perfect streak alive in the tournament. They will meet the St. Mary duo of Paxton/A. O’Neill on Wednedsay after they defeated Calloway County’s Provine/Grooms 6-0, 6-0.
McCracken County’s O’Neal/Flint advanced past Ballard Memorial duo Thompson/Graves 6-0, 6-1, while Paducah Tilghman’s Anderson/Anderson defeated St. Mary duo Mowers/Flint 6-2, 6-0.
In boys singles action, No. 1 seed, Owen Null defeated Ballard Memorials’ Luke Fickles 6-0, 6-1. Tilghman’s Henry Wright defeated McCracken’s Logan Alexander 6-3, 6-0.
Murray’s Drew Foley defeated Calloway’s Connor Pile 6-1, 6-0 and McCracken’s Luke Braboy defeated Mayfield’s Lane Rohrer 6-0, 6-0.
In boys doubles action, McCracken’s Shanks/Hagan defeated Graves County’s Tumbow/McClain 6-0, 6-0, while Lea/Dos Remedios defeated Mayfield’s Smith/Shultz 6-4, 6-2.
McCracken’s Thompson/LaFont downed Calloway’s Bundren/Jansma 6-0, 6-2, while Morris/Duwe of Tilghman defeated Murray’s Mehta/Morris 6-0, 6-0.
