Over the weekend, the Class 3A Region 1 track meet was held at Henderson County, with athletes from McCracken County, Marshall County, and Graves County staking their claim to a spot in the upcoming KHSAA State meet in Lexington.
McCracken County would have one of the strongest team performances of the day, with the Lady Mustangs taking first place as a team, while the boys finished third, combining for 27 top three finishes across all events.
Across the day, the Lady Mustangs would clean up in short sprint events; while LeZharia Bolen took first in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes, McCracken would also take the top spot in the 100 and 300M hurdle events through Annaleise Ruzich and Harper Barabas, respectively. Other Lady Mustangs finishing first in their events include Maddie Ault (800M run), Janaye Reed (shot put), and Cecily Ford (long jump).
Over to the boys team, the Mustangs would find success in field events, with Dawson Hayden taking the top spot in pole vault, while Paxton Carver finished first in the triple jump. Lex Holmes would round out the first place finishes for McCracken with his result in the 110M hurdles.
