McCracken County senior standout Landon Hunt has been named the 2025 Kentucky Mr. Golf, a prestigious honor that recognizes the top high school golfer in the state. The announcement caps off a historic season for Hunt following his 2025 KHSAA Boys State Golf Championship title.

“I don’t think I could have thought of a better way to put a wrap on everything,” Hunt said. “This was one of my goals coming into the season. But I’m not going to lie, at the start of the postseason it wasn’t looking very great, but a lot of things fell into place, I played some good golf down the stretch and I’m just super grateful.”

Hunt’s season resume is unmatched. In addition to earning the Mr. Golf title, he was named First Team All-State, First Region Player of the Year, and First Team All-First Region. On the course, his play spoke volumes, leading him to an individual KHSAA state championship and guiding McCracken County to a third-place team finish at the state final round.

Hunt was dominant all season long. Not only did he secure his final three tournament wins including the First Region tournament, the Sub-State round and the championship round, he also added three regular season victories along with other top five finishes.

“It felt like at the beginning of the season I was playing rounds where I wasn’t necessarily playing bad rounds, but they weren’t always the rounds I wanted,” Hunt said. “Then after the Christian County tournament I shot a 64 and got into a groove where I started playing really well and ever since then my whole game has felt good.”

With his senior season behind him, Landon is a firm believer in taking some time away from golf to enjoy his final months of high school before he dives into the world of college golf. The Murray State commit is excited about his future in golf and competing at a higher level.

“I couldn’t be more grateful to Coach Miller for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing college golf,” Landon said. “I play a lot of golf with some of the Murray State guys at The Country Club of Paducah so it’s been great already having a relationship with my future teammates.”

Hunt’s Mr. Golf award isn’t the only impressive feat for the Mustangs. His teammates also found success in postseason awards.

Making history once again, all five members of McCracken County’s “A” group were named to the All-First Region teams. Joining Hunt were Tanner Kight, Evan Hack, Jack Farmery and Dallas Vinson, each contributing to the Mustangs’ successful postseason run.

Hunt’s Mr. Golf title marks a defining moment for McCracken County golf, solidifying both his legacy and the program’s place among Kentucky’s best.
