Nearly all of the First Region tennis representatives at the state tournament were eliminated Wednesday in Lexington. After the first round of action on Tuesday saw three girls and two boys doubles teams, along with four girls singles and two boys singles advancing, after play on Wednesday, just one girls doubles team remained.

McCracken County’s Cassidy Parker and Alex Poore have dominated the doubles courts in Lexington, winning three matches to make the semifinals Thursday morning.

They got to work Wednesday morning witha 6-2/6-0 win over Madisonville-North Hopkins duo Albany Ray and Emma Tagg, and doubled down with 6-2/6-3 wins over Madison Clark and Alexis Meyers from Owensboro Catholic.

Their quarterfinal bout took a little extra effort, winning 2-6/6-1/1-0 against the duPont Manual duo, Helen Bai and Himani Deo.

Alex and Cassidy will meet Lindsay Jones and Katherine Morton from Corbin High School in the semifinals Thursday morning in Lexington.

Sophie Hollowell made the next biggest splash in Lexington, making it to the round of 16 before falling out of play. She started Wednesday with a 6-3/6-3 win over Kyla Rolley of South Oldham, but fell 7-5/6-0 in the round of 16 to Audrine Schaefer from duPont Manual.

Teammate, Pratha Patel lost a 6-0/6-1 match in the round of 32 to Claire Rueff of Sacred Heart.

St. Mary’s Olivia O’Neill fell in the first round of the day, battling in a 7-6/6-3 loss to Chloe Dickens frm Greenwood.

Paducah Tilghman’s Christian Anderson fomr Paducah Tilghman also suffered a round of 32 loss, 6-0/6-0 to South Warren’s Sol-Francesca Poole.

Only two boys doubles teams took to action on Wednesday, both from Paducah Tilghman. The duo of Alex McMillan and Wilson Kirchoff fell 6-0/6-4 to Houston Danzer and Joseph Merchant from Owensboro Catholic and TJ Duwe and Leyton Morris fell 6-0/6-1 to Lexington Catholic’s Clark Malone and Jacob Holland.

In boys singles action, St. Mary’s Henry Wright suffered a 6-0/6-1 loss to Charles Lewis from Kentucky Country Day, while Paducah Tilghman’s Whitson McNeill fell 6-1/6-0 to Landon Ecarma from Christian Academy-Louisville.
