Sophie Hollowell / McCracken County HS
As a sophomore, Sophie became very ill, constantly passing out and unable to keep food in her system. Eventually, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and she has been able to manage that disease in a manner that allows her to compete at a high level for the McCracken County High golf and tennis team. In 2023, Sophie won the First Region title in golf and she's a four-time state qualifier while also posting the lowest average for her team in back-to-back seasons. Additionally, Sophie's father passed away on the day of the state golf tournament in her junior season. On the tennis court, Sophie's team was a four-time region champion and she was the region's individual single champion three times and was named all-state in 2024. Sophie was also chosen as her school's valedictorian at the end of her high school career.
