MCCRACKEN COUNTY 4, CALDWELL COUNTY 0
In the night cap of day one of Slugfest, McCracken County bested Caldwell County 4-0 with steady innings through the middle of action. After going scoreless through the first two innings patience payed off, leading to the first run in the top of the third and stayed consistent from there.
Macy Butler would get the runs started when she knocked a ground out to second, giving Kinley Dowdy the room to move home. Caldwell County’s defense was able to keep each of the middle four innings at just one run apiece, avoiding any runs and getting immediate third outs after each run.
Lilly Hamilton contributed the second run on another ground out to third to push Savannah McDowell home who got on base with a double in the previous at-bat. Olivia Lee would make it a 3-0 game in the top of the sixth with a line drive to right field to push Dowdy home once more and McDowell would score Kalynn Cunningham on a girls ground all.
Sophomore hurler Addison Dudley pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits, two walks and striking out 10 on a 110-66 pitch-strike count. Opposite her, Caldwell County’s Alexis Wood handled the circle, allowing seven hits, four runs (three earned) on an 81-49 pitch-strike count.
