Matt Houser

McCracken County Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Houser as the new principal of Lone Oak Middle School, effective July 1, 2025.

Houser began his career in education as a classroom teacher at Hendron–Lone Oak Elementary School in 2006. He later served as assistant principal at Lone Oak High School and then as principal in 2012 prior to the consolidation and opening of McCracken County High School (MCHS). Houser went on to serve as an assistant principal at MCHS before being named principal—a position he held for five years.

Houser brings with him a wealth of leadership experience, a deep commitment to student success, and a strong connection to the Lone Oak community.

“I’m very excited to join Lone Oak Middle School as the next principal and become part of a culture that values excellence, growth, and student success,” said Houser. “I look forward to working together with students, staff, and the Lone Oak community.”

Houser holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in School Administration, both from Murray State University.

Superintendent Josh Hunt commented on the appointment, stating, “Matt Houser brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to our students. His strong leadership and long-standing connection to our district make him an excellent choice to lead Lone Oak Middle School.”

Current Lone Oak Middle School Principal Coye Elliott will be transitioning into a new position at the McCracken County Board of Education this summer.
