McCracken County Schools is proud to announce that Reidland Elementary School has been named a Bright Spots Top School, a national recognition honoring schools that are beating the odds in third-grade literacy achievement.
Presented by Bright Spots, a data journalism project of The 74, a nonprofit education newsroom, the award recognizes schools across the country where students are outperforming expectations in reading. The Bright Spots Project highlights schools whose third-grade literacy outcomes exceed what would typically be expected based on student demographics, shining a spotlight on educators and school communities making a measurable difference in student learning.
Reidland Elementary earned the distinction through its unwavering commitment to ensuring every student develops strong foundational literacy skills. The recognition reflects the dedication of the school's teachers, instructional staff, administrators, students, and families who work together each day to create a culture where reading success is a priority.
"This recognition is a testament to the incredible work happening every day at Reidland Elementary," said Superintendent Josh Hunt. "Our teachers and staff are committed to helping every child become a confident reader, and this national honor reflects their dedication, expertise, and belief that all students can achieve at high levels. We are incredibly proud of the Reidland Elementary team."
Principal April Bynum credited the school's success to the collective efforts of the entire school community.
"We are honored to receive this national recognition," said Bynum. "Our staff works tirelessly to provide high-quality literacy instruction while building meaningful relationships with students and families. This award belongs to our teachers, interventionists, support staff, students, and parents who have embraced the importance of literacy and work together every day to help our students succeed."
The Bright Spots Project was created to celebrate schools where students are thriving academically and to highlight successful literacy practices that can inspire educators across the nation. By recognizing schools that are exceeding expectations, the initiative aims to showcase what is possible when schools remain focused on student achievement and literacy growth.
Reidland Elementary's recognition as a Bright Spots Top School reflects McCracken County Schools' continued commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities and ensuring every student has the skills needed for lifelong success.
