Jacob Simmons

McCracken County Public Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Jacob Simmons as an Assistant Principal at McCracken County High School.

Simmons brings more than 15 years of experience in education, along with a strong background in both classroom instruction and student support services. He began his career in 2009 as a secondary social studies teacher, where he taught a wide range of courses including U.S. History, World History, Government, Economics, and AP Psychology.

In 2021, Simmons transitioned into a leadership role as an At-Risk Students Program Coordinator, where he worked closely with students and staff to support academic success and implement behavioral interventions. Most recently, he served as a school counselor at McCracken County High School, where he played a key role in supporting students and coordinating school-wide initiatives.

During his time at McCracken County High School, Simmons built student schedules, coordinated honors programs, led professional development, and oversaw important processes such as transcript management and grading timelines for a large student population. He has also been actively involved in PBIS, MTSS, and attendance committees, demonstrating his commitment to student success and school improvement.

Simmons earned his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in Social Studies from Murray State University in 2009 and later obtained a master’s degree in School Counseling from Murray State University in 2017.

“I am excited for this new role in a building I’ve been in and loved since it opened,” said Simmons. “The work being done by teachers and staff is fundamental to the growth of our community, and I hope to support that work by protecting the learning environment for our students. Exciting things are happening at MCHS!”

“Mr. Simmons knows our students, our staff, and our building,” said Principal Jonathan Smith. “He has built strong relationships across our school community and understands what it takes to support both student success and a positive school culture. We are excited to have him step into this role and continue that work at a higher level.”
