McCracken County Public Schools is pleased to announce that Johnna Hite has been named Assistant Director of Exceptional Children Programs. She will assume the role effective July 1.
Hite brings more than a decade of experience in education, along with a strong background in supporting students with diverse learning needs. She has served as Assistant Principal at Heath Elementary School since 2018, where she has led efforts in Response to Intervention (RTI), coordinated professional development, managed testing accommodations, and supported schoolwide instructional practices.
Prior to her role in administration, Hite worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for McCracken County Public Schools, serving students from preschool through high school. Her experience in communication disorders and student services has provided a strong foundation for supporting exceptional learners.
In her new role, Hite will assist in overseeing district programs and services for exceptional children, including special education and psychological services. She will support school administrators and teachers, help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and assist in implementing effective instructional strategies and programs for students with disabilities.
Hite will also play a key role in providing professional development, analyzing student data to improve outcomes, and supporting evaluation and placement processes. She will collaborate with staff and families to ensure students receive appropriate services in the least restrictive environment.
She holds an Education Specialist degree from Eastern Kentucky University and both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Murray State University.
“Johnna’s experience and dedication to student success make her a great fit for this role,” said Superintendent Josh Hunt. “Her work supporting students and staff will have a positive impact across our district.”
“I am honored and excited to serve as the Assistant Director of Special Education for McCracken County Public Schools,” said Hite. “Over the past 14 years in the district—as a speech-language pathologist and assistant principal at Heath Elementary—I have developed a deep appreciation for our students, families, and dedicated staff. These experiences have shaped my commitment to ensuring that every student has access to meaningful, high-quality educational opportunities. It is a privilege to continue serving this community in a new capacity, and I am committed to upholding the district’s mission while advocating for the success of every student we serve.”
Hite’s leadership and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners will help continue to strengthen services for students across McCracken County Public Schools.
