McCracken County High School celebrated a historic performance at the state Future Problem Solving competition, where team members Jack Nelson, Riya Patel, Allison Ricketts, and Gavin Schooley won the state championship with record-setting scores!

Senior Jack Nelson also captured state titles in Individual Future Problem Solving and Scenario Writing, making him Kentucky’s most decorated FPS student this year. In addition, he received a senior scholarship from KAAC.

Gavin Schooley added to the team’s success with a fifth-place finish in Individual Problem Solving. Brennen Hartman placed eighth in Individual FPS and won first place in the Alternate Division. Lillie Canter and Victoria Jordan earned second place in the Alternate Division, while Victoria Jordan also placed tenth in Individual FPS.

“This year’s team is the most successful in MCHS history,” said Coach Melissa Bryan. The team spent countless hours researching and preparing for the competition, which focused on the topic of Surveillance Society.

After developing a booklet of challenges and solutions related to invasive surveillance systems in future classrooms, the team created an Action Plan for a decentralized, cloud-based storage system called CLEAR (Consent-based Lifespans for Expiring Archived Records).
