The McCracken County School District is pleased to announce that Coye Elliott has been named Director of Secondary Instruction, effective July 1.

Elliott currently serves as the district’s Director of Personnel, a role he has held since 2025. In that position, he has overseen human resources functions including recruitment, hiring, and staff support, while working closely with district and school leaders to strengthen the overall workforce.

Prior to joining the central office, Elliott built a strong foundation as both an educator and school leader. He began his career as an agriculture teacher at Lone Oak High School in 2007 and continued teaching agriculture at McCracken County High School until 2015. He then transitioned into administration, serving as Interim Assistant Principal at McCracken County High School before moving to Graves County High School, where he served as Assistant Principal from 2015 to 2019.

In 2019, Elliott returned to McCracken County Schools as Principal of Lone Oak Middle School. Under his leadership, the school experienced significant academic growth and achievement, most notably earning a blue rating on the 2024 Kentucky Summative Assessment. This distinction placed Lone Oak Middle School among the top-performing middle schools in the state, reflecting Elliott’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement.

Elliott holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (2007), a Master of Science in Agriculture (2009), and a Master of Science in Administration (2012), all from Murray State University. He has also participated in the Leadership Institute for School Principals, further strengthening his ability to support educators and lead at the district level.

In his new role as Director of Secondary Instruction, Elliott will support middle and high schools across the district by leading instructional initiatives, guiding curriculum development, analyzing student achievement data, and working closely with school leaders to strengthen teaching and learning.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve as Director of Secondary Instruction in McCracken County,” said Elliott. “It’s been a privilege to support our staff and schools through my role in personnel, and I look forward to continuing that work in a new way—focused on instruction and student success across our secondary schools.”

Superintendent Josh Hunt commended Elliott’s leadership and versatility, saying, “Mr. Elliott has demonstrated a deep commitment to both our staff and our students. His experience in personnel and building leadership gives him a unique perspective that will be incredibly valuable in this role. We are confident he will continue to make a positive impact on teaching and learning across the district.”
