Reid began his career as a World Civilization teacher at Mayfield High School from 1999 to 2001 before continuing at West Jessamine Middle School from 2001 to 2008. He transitioned into administration in 2008 as Assistant Principal at Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary, where he supported student discipline, coordinated testing, and worked closely with teachers to strengthen instruction.
In 2009, Reid became Assistant Principal and Instructional Coach at Lone Oak High School, focusing on curriculum development and teacher mentoring. He later served as Principal of Heath High School beginning in 2011, where he led school improvement efforts and built a strong, collaborative culture.
When McCracken County High School opened in 2013, Reid played a key role as Assistant Principal in establishing the school’s academic and operational foundation. Beginning in 2014, he served as Principal of Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary, leading the school to significant gains in student achievement and fostering a positive, student-centered environment.
Since 2024, Reid has served as Director of High School Instruction, supporting school leaders, strengthening instructional practices, and guiding academic success at the secondary level.
“Jon Reid is a dedicated and experienced leader who understands what it takes to support students and educators at every level,” said Superintendent Josh Hunt. “His ability to build strong systems, support high-quality instruction, and develop meaningful relationships makes him the right choice to serve as our Chief Academic Officer. We are excited for the continued impact he will have across our district.”
Reid holds a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History/Political Science from Georgetown College.
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chief Academic Officer,” said Reid. “McCracken County Schools is a special place, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside our dedicated educators to ensure every student is supported and successful.”
