McCracken County Public Schools is pleased to announce that Jennifer Scism has been named Assistant Principal at McCracken County High School, where she will serve as the administrator for the Freshman Academy, effective July 1, 2026.
Scism began her teaching career in 2009 with Sikeston Public Schools as an art teacher. She joined McCracken County Schools in 2014, teaching art at both Reidland Elementary and Reidland Middle School. She later gained additional experience in the Christian County School District before returning to McCracken County Schools.
Since 2019, Scism has served as principal of Lone Oak Elementary School, where she has built a strong culture of excellence, collaboration, and student-centered learning. During her tenure, Lone Oak Elementary was recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, a distinction that reflects the school’s high academic achievement and commitment to student success under her leadership.
Known for her ability to build strong teams and create positive school environments, Scism has focused on empowering teachers, strengthening instructional practices, and ensuring every student is supported to reach their full potential. Her leadership has resulted in high levels of student achievement, strong staff retention, and a vibrant school community.
“Jennifer is an outstanding leader who understands the importance of building relationships and creating a positive school culture,” said McCracken County High School Principal Jonathan Smith. “Her experience as both a teacher and principal, along with her passion for supporting students, makes her the perfect fit to lead our Freshman Academy. We are excited to welcome her to McCracken County High School.”
Scism holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art Education from Harding University and earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Administration from William Woods University in 2014.
She is excited to take on this new role within the Freshman Academy, recognizing it as a unique opportunity to impact every student who progresses through McCracken County Schools. She is passionate about supporting students during this critical transition year and helping set a strong foundation for their high school experience and future success.
Her commitment to building strong relationships with students and staff will support a successful transition for freshmen and continued growth within the Freshman Academy.
