3rd Annual McCracken County Sheriff's Department's "Operation Safe Halloween" Event Scheduled

3rd Annual McCracken County Sheriff’s Department’s “Operation Safe Halloween” Event Scheduled

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department will again this year be partnering with other agencies, organizations, and local businesses for the 3rd consecutive year for the Halloween night event called Operation Safe Halloween. In the two previous years, the event has been held on the K-Mart parking lot. The event has simply outgrown that location. This year we are partnering with the McCracken County School System and will be holding this very popular event at the Lone Oak Football field, which is located near K-Mart, just off of Bleich Road. This new venue will provide a safer location, better parking, and less vehicular traffic.

Businesses and organizations will set up Halloween themed booths around the track at the football field for children and their parents to pass through while handing out candy or other age appropriate material. Last year, just over 40 booths were set up with over 1000 children in attendance. Any business or organization that would like to participate in this year’s event, is asked to contact Deputy Casey Powell at (270) 444-4719 or by email at [email protected] for additional details and to reserve space.

Last year, two local non-profit organizations were named as being the recipients of canned goods brought to the event by parents of the children that attended. Those contributions went to the Paducah Cooperative Ministries, and the Family Services Society. This year the charity that we are partnering with in an effort to assist is the “Hope Unlimited Family Care Center.”

“This organization is a very well-deserving non-profit that does a lot to help individuals and their families in our area. They provide a wide array of services to those in need including but not limited to: Free pregnancy tests, prenatal medical care including doctor supervision and on-site ultrasound technology in Paducah. Pregnancy and parenthood mentoring, post-abortion counseling and education, men's support groups, parenting and life skills classes, integrity through work job training, sexual integrity prevention programs, Learn to Earn education-based rewards program, and family thrift store stocked through community donations.”

Hope Unlimited Needs List includes:
*Size 3, 4, and 5 diapers
*Pull Ups, all sizes
*Baby Wipes
*Baby Lotion
*Feminine Products
*Bars of Soap
*Dental Hygiene Products
*Personal Hygiene (shampoo, deodorant, etc)
*Laundry detergent
*Baby Food, jars or boxes
For more information, visit or on Facebook.

There is no charge to parents or children to attend this event, but they are asked to bring items from the Needs List that will be donated to Hope Unlimited. There will be a trailer on-site for all of the collected items to be placed in.

Concessions will be available at the event and provided by McCracken County School Boosters.

We are very appreciative to the McCracken County School System for partnering with us this year. They like our agency want to provide a memorable, fun, and safe environment for our county’s youth this Halloween. This year, October 31 falls on a Friday. The event will begin at 4:45PM and end around 9PM.

More information about event to be sent out at a later date.

Thank you,

Sheriff Jon Hayden
