MCHS Student Named Semifinalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program

McCracken County Public Schools is proud to announce that McCracken County High School senior, Isaac Reynolds has been named a semifinalist in the 2022 National Merit scholarship competition. He will continue to compete for more than $30 million in National Merit Scholarships to be awarded in the spring.
Reynolds is the president of the MCHS Yoyo Club and a member of the Paducah-McCracken Mountain Bike Team. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar and piano as well as scooter riding and skateboarding.
More than 1.5 million students nationwide entered the Merit Program as juniors by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. High scorers were designated Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corp. In total, just over 16,000 academically talented seniors qualified nationwide.
National Merit Semifinalists will advance to the Finalist level upon completion of additional requirements. To become a Finalist, the Semifinalist and a high school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information about the Semifinalist’s academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. A Semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, and write an essay.
