Senate Bill 128-Request for Supplemental Year

On Wednesday, March 24, Gov. Beshear signed Senate Bill 128 into law giving Kentucky's school districts the opportunity to offer a supplemental school year. The supplemental school year would allow students currently enrolled in kindergarten through 12th grade to repeat, retake, or supplement courses or graded levels already completed. Families have until May 1, 2021 to submit applications to the McCracken County Board of Education. The Board of Education will review the applications and make a determination to grant the supplemental school year by June 1, 2021. If you are interested in having your child repeat their current grade level in the 2021-2022 school year, please use the link below to fill out the application. Families are encouraged to reach out to their principal if they have questions regarding the supplemental school year.

A few points to remember when deciding if a supplemental school year is right for your child:
  • Students will repeat the same classes or possible supplemental classes as deemed by the school from the 2020-2021 school year. Students will NOT be able to take classes for advancement.
  • School policy will determine if an improved grade will be replaced from the 2020-2021 school year.
  • Students will remain in that grade level the entire school year.

Any application submitted after May 1, 2021 will not be eligible for the supplemental year.
