Board accepts $124,000 school safety grant from U.S. Department of Justice
Board members formally accepted a $124,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Office. Over the next two years, the funds will be used for critical security upgrades, as well as violence prevention programs.
Upgrades will include updated radios for the district’s School Resource Officers and security system upgrades at schools district wide.

The Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Act of 2018 gave the U.S. DOJ COPS Office authority to provide grants directly to states, units of local government, and public agencies (such as school districts, police departments and sheriff’s departments) to improve school security through evidence-based school safety programs.
