Board members recognize students for athletic, artistic & academic achievements
• MCHS Volleyball Team — Region 1 Champions, their 7th consecutive Region 1 title
• Cast from The Diviners — 3rd Place at KY Theatre Association High School State Competition
• Barrett Wagner & Chesney Flynn — 2020 Coca-Cola Scholars Program Semifinalists
• Ella McBee — ACT Composite Score of 36
• Samuel Salus — Champion of WKEC Regional Spelling Bee for Deaf & Hard of Hearing 

Board members approve 2020-21 calendar
This year’s calendar committee met Nov. 12 and reached consensus on a draft calendar for the 2020-21 school year, which was presented to board members last month. Board members approved the calendar with no changes after a second reading Tuesday night. Highlights include:
• Aug. 6, 2020 — First Day for Students
• Oct. 5-9, 2020 — Fall Break
• Nov. 25-27, 2020 — Thanksgiving Break
• Dec. 21, 2020 to Jan. 1, 2021 — Christmas Break
• April 5-9, 2021 — Spring Break
• May 18, 2021 — Last Day for Students

Board approves contract to conduct feasibility study for location of LOIS
Tuesday night board members approved a contract with local architects Peck Flannery Gream Warren to study the feasibility of relocating Lone Oak Intermediate School to the current Lone Oak Middle School Building. For $9,600, this feasibility study will allow for a detailed comparison of expenses associated with relocation, versus making improvements needed for LOIS to remain in its current building.
