Board commends students for academic achievements
Thursday night board members took a moment to congratulate and recognize middle and high school students in front of a boardroom full of their family and friends. Recognitions included:

McCracken Co. Mustangs 7th Grade Middle School Football Team — State Runners-Up
MCHS School Girls Volleyball Team — Region 1 Champions
MCHS Women’s Cross Country Team — Region 1 Runners-Up, plus… 
      • Maggie Aydt placed 1st in the region
      • Maggie Dowdy placed 7th
      • Autumn Knight, Abbie Farmer, and Sarah Baker all finished in the Top 25
Men’s Team — Placed 23rd in the state, plus…
      • Wes Grogan finished 44th 

Board approves second reading of 2019-20 school calendar
Board members approved the second and final reading of the 2019-20 school calendar, including:
• Aug. 9 — First Day for Students 
• Labor Day — Sept. 2
• Fall Break — Oct. 7 to 11
• General Election Day — Nov. 5
• Thanksgiving Break — Nov. 27 to 29
• Christmas & New Years Break — Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 (two weeks)
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day — Jan. 20
• President’s Day — Feb. 17
• No school — March 13
• Spring Break — April 6 to 10
• Primary Election Day — May 19 
• May 21 — Last Day for Students

Board approves construction company for Bus Garage project
Following the bid process in recent weeks, board members approved Murray-based John Clark Construction for the Bus Garage project. Board members also approved the BG-1 document for the project, totaling $2.6 million (including a 10% contingency fund).
