McCracken County High School students Andrew Castleman (Musical Theatre), Hope Eason (Musical Theatre), Martha McHaney (Film and Photography) and Laney Yancey (Drama) have been selected as participants in the 2017 Governor's School for the Arts (GSA). One MCHS student has been designated as an alternate for Governor's Schools for the Arts: Jesse Elliott (Musical Theatre).
Over 1,400 students applied and 256 students were accepted from across the state. Governor’s School for the Arts provides hands-on arts opportunities for promising high school sophomores and juniors in nine arts disciplines: Architecture, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theater, New Media, Visual Art and Vocal Music. The three-week program is hosted by Centre College in Danville.
