STUDENTS COMPETE IN
ODYSSEY OF THE MIND WORLD COMPETITION
Several students are competing this week in the 36th Annual Odyssey of the Mind Competition at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. There are 847 teams from 17 countries competing at the event.
LOMS is competing in their "long problem" event today. It is a challenge called "Losing Your Marbles" and involves building a structure from 1/8" balsa wood that will support as much weight as possible, while also holding, and releasing at certain points within the 8-minute problem, five marbles. The team also incorporates a skit into the problem to create a "story" behind the building of the structure, as well as releasing the marbles. They will compete in the "Spontaneous" part of the completion on Friday.
