ACADEMIC TEAM
Leader:  Mrs. Bryan 
The academic team is composed of 7th and 8th grade students competing against other schools in quick recall and written composition matches. Quick recall is typically played with 2 teams of 4 to 5 players. A moderator reads a question and players buzz in using buzzers to answer questions.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL/OUTDOOR CLUB   
Leader: Mr. Woods and Mrs. Duda
The environmental/outdoor club is for students interested in all things outdoorsy such as hiking, navigation skills, rope climbing, learning how to survive in the woods, first aid and recycling. We meet every other Wednesday from 2:30 - 3:30. Our next meeting will be September 30th in room 204. If a student didn’t make it to the first meeting, they can still come check us out during our next meeting.
 
FUTURE PROBLEM SOLVING
Leader: Mrs. Bryan
Future Problem Solving is an internationally recognized award winning program that encourages critical thinking FPS fosters investigation , ingenuity, creativity, and cooperative learning. FPS is part of the HMS academic team. Tryouts are held each Fall.
 

LEGO Robotics
Leader: Mrs. Cadwell
Meets on Tues/Thurs to prepare for competing in the Lego League competition. Competition will be held at the WKCTC Emerging Technology Center. There are 3 parts to the competition..... Core Values Presentation, The Project, and The Robot Design/Competition.
 
STLP - Student Technology Leadership Program
Leader: Mr. Dossett
STLP uses project-based learning principles to empower student learning and achievement through the utilization and creation of technology to solve school and community needs.  STLP provides a framework for highlighting the advanced use of technology for learning in Kentucky's classrooms.  Daily, students are developing digital products to demonstrate what they have learned; utilizing or creating technology to solve a problem, and, often, using their leadership and technology skills to serve their school or community.
