| Lone Oak Fifth Graders learn from Living Gallery Kelly Smith's fifth grade class at Lone Oak Elementary made history come to life on February 1st! Each student studied an important historical figure of their own choosing. Students used many different resources to research their historical figure, practiced memorizing their lines with each other, and then presented a "Living Gallery" that other Lone Oak students could walk through and learn important information about each individual. The students were in character with costumes and held picture frames to make the gallery more exciting. The students chose historical figures ranging from King George III, Cleopatra, Abraham Lincoln, to Clara Barton. Students said that this project not only taught them about the figure they studied but also sparked an interest in history that had not previously been tapped! They asked, "can we do this again tomorrow?" at the end of the project!
