(FRANKFORT, Ky.) - The second annual Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) State Championship was held on May 10 and 11, at the Lexington Convention Center.

Students competed in many areas of technology. The best products, presenters, projects and live performances were recognized at an awards program on Friday at  the Bluegrass Ballroom.

Students from nearly 300 schools from across the state attended the event, which includes technology performances by students and competitions in a variety of categories.

Special events included the AT&T Interactive Video Conferencing presentation, the Georgetown College Robotics Competition and the Microsoft and Dell Gaming Competition. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a mobile recording and video production studio, was available to participants at the competition.

STLP is a project-based learning program that empowers students in all grade levels to use technology to learn and achieve. It was established in 1994 by the STLP State Advisory Council, which is composed of teachers, students and community leaders. The program is open to all students in all grade levels in every school in Kentucky.

The best projects from fall regional STLP showcases competed at this event. Showcase projects will compete for a spot at the National Educational Computer Conference (NECC) in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 26.
